Dear Gabriel-Glas friends

When our patron René Gabriel orders a brandy on his favorite holiday island Tenerife, he usually orders a Cardenal Mendoza, a Gran Duca de Alba, a Carlos I or a Lepanto. He would prefer to order his favorite, the Constitución, but it is not available there! Neither in the very best restaurants nor in top stores.

10 liters become a single bottle …
The Constitución offered here is produced in the traditional Solera process. Means: Within 75 years (!) This Spanish spirit matures in oak barrels , thus gaining aroma concentration and losing liquid and alcohol. Just until bottling it “lands” at a very pleasant 40% vol. It is distilled from the Airén and Macabeo grape. The inventor of the Constitución is Juan Bernal Gonzalés and founded the Bodegas Bernal in the Murcia region in 1889.

Actually, the Gabriel glass generally lends itself as a pleasure-gaining universal glass for all wines. But it can do even more. For example, beers of all kinds. And the Gabriel glass also performs best with spirits. Kirsch? Whisky? Cognac? No problem at all. So, too, with this fabulous brandy.

What does this mysterious Constitución taste like?
The honestly matured color reflects mahogany and amber reflections. The bouquet is delicately spicy, showing nut liqueur, cognac nuances, vanilla, dark caramel, sandalwood, lots of dried fruit (raisins, figs, apricots) and it is finely spiced with a hint of curry. The palate flow is royal, delicately creamy and perfectly balanced. The sublime finish tastes of noble oloroso sherry and coffee. Lucky the one who gets to enjoy this noblest of all Spanish brandies once in a lifetime.
